not gonna happen imo
Iran has a few months left to negotiate w/Bush before the Clintons takes over. They are afraid of a militarized Gulf with tons of US $ to buy weapons and invade them. Wars cost $ and Iran is broke. Iran will join Pax Americana or risk a losing war with its neighbors. Even Iran's military is only designed for public unrest.
As far as a religious influenced democracy is concerned, a successful Turkey shows Iran's policies are a failure and Iran's middle class knows it. Their last hope was an unstable Iraq they could influence.
When the religious head leader in Saudi Arabia recently announced that terrorism misguides youth it was another nail in Iran's terrorist stance.
For sure 2008 will be the time when the mid-east leaders will have to make strategic decisions. Bush's policies are uncomplicated and unwavering. He must really believe in God.
