I agree, they need to start making computers TOUGH. Being that the sole purpose to use a PORTABLE COMPUTER is in the fact that it's PORTABLE, it's therefore subject to much harsher treatment than a desktop. But no one wants to make them stronger. Just lighter.
Until a customer drops it, breaks the screen and the HD screws itself and looses $100K worth of data. Then they want tough, not light...

Tough books are nice.
To date I have dropped every one of my laptops several times.
Think it's common knowledge what brand I carry. They all have dents and battle worn cases. Had one sitting on a table, dog ran by, tripped over the power cord, box flew 10 ft across the room before landing on a tile floor. CD that was in the drive was still playing. No damage.
The better boxes will come with accelerometers built in that sense this kind of stuff and park the drives before a hit takes place.
