You're right - looks like Porsche has taken their '08 MY vehicles off the list. The RIV list now says that "you should check with Porsche NA for '07 and '08 MY vehicles manufactured after Sept. 2007.

So this is how they head us off at the pass and keep their fatter Canadian margins - just strike their cars off the RIV list, end of discussion.

It would be nice if the Canadian feds determined importability rather than letting the manufacturers speak to Canadian compliance because it allows for this kind of abuse. But I suppose that would impose a ridiculous infrastructure need on the government.

I was looking at Dodge Sprinter based class B motorhomes last year (alright, hold the laughter). Unknown to me, it seems that the vast majority of these are manufactured in Canada. I kinda embarassed myself on a US RV website asking questions about technicals and best places to buy. The forum members were quick to remark that it was pretty funny for a Canadian to be asking for this kinda information when the things are built right in my backyard.

But, guess what? Canadian manufacturers offer limited range of models in Canada compared to the US and the prices are about 40% higher in Canada.
Ridiculous! A class B made in Manitoba sells for $120K in Vancouver or 80-90K in Spokane. But you can't buy a new one in Spokane and bring it into Canada because Dodge won't honour the chassis warranty (or at least so I'm told by the Canadian manufacturer).

Absurd situation, but just as well - it helped me to decide that I really didn't need a Class B afterall.
