I've used a 'motorcycle' jack to remove/replace '84 drivetrain twice. (Rear seal leaked first time, had to do it again) Much easier than a regular jack alone.
Bought it at Costco around $100. My only complaint is that it has a 'lever' to release pressure and it drops too fast. Try to find one with a 'screw' like a standard bottle jack.
