In a moment of weakness, I paid nearly $300.00 for a 1/18 scale 1962 Ferrari 250GT SWB made by CMC. Yes...the detail is incredible and if you were 5" tall, you'd swear you could just jump in & drive it off. I know that I'll NEVER be able to own an example of the real thing...so this is as close as I'll ever get. Wayne...there are MANY, MANY people who gladly spend THOUSANDS on collectible miniatures of not only cars, but all sorts of other stuff, too. What never ceases to amaze me are the numbers of people willing to buy the junk "collectibles" being pitched on TV. How about a silver-plated coin issued by the island republic of Palau, featuring a yellow Corvette with working headlights....thousands sold for $49.95 but now it can be yours for only $19.95! GIVE ME A BREAK!

The miniature engines...incredible indeed! A local modeling club always has a display at area car shows and the crowds are thick around these little gems all afternoon. When they fire one up, people are no less excited than if you lit off a Formula One car. The radial aero motors these guys build are a sight to behold...
