I've gotta side and voice with Matt on this one. "custom weld-in cages" are no better than the guy who puts it together and installs it. With the exception of a shop having a well established track record doing strong/durable cages, the Safety Devices (example only) are best.
I'd really like to see and hear some actual crash performance reports telling and showing how various cages have held up when it really counts. Nobody should install a cage for looks or skimp on budget for a cage that works when you (hopefully never) need it.
Do these companies or custom builders have pictures of how their cages held up in severe hits?
