Denis...you did the right thing. You took care of him in good times and when he needed you to help him. He couldn't make these decisions, but he trusted you to know when the time was right - you did.

I have two aging Rhoedesians that I worry about. One is 10 and the other 9. They are first cousins and I got them both when they were 8 weeks old. My love for them is so strong that when the time comes, I will be strong by their side the way they have been for me. They need us to be strong during these times, and that is the way to do it. Difficult, yes, but focus on this day the same way you approached taking care of their other needs over the years. That will help you feel great about the lifelong relationship you had with him.
