Re unexpected head wounds, it's not possible to totally predict 'treminal' ballistics.
I think it was the Hatcher (?) studies in the 1900's that examined hundreds of hogs, all shot with the same gun, same lot of ammunition, and same impact point. No two wound channels were identical.
Someone out there has survived a .44 mag to the head, and someone has probably died from a bb gun. I'm happy all I've taken is a few airsoft rounds lately.
