Van and I have spoken about this issue before. Several guys have tried to trace the history of the original 1979 factory sold 935's have gotten lost in the process. When the very well known MOMO Moby Dick 935 copy was restored it was changed back to its original condition. You would think you would want to keep it in its most well know colors.

It is the same with 917's. How many of the red/white 1971 LeMans winner fakes have been made up? Several over the years.

Ford painted several Mark IV's in the red/white colors after they won in 1967 and used them in promotional shows.
