Well,
The other thing would be that different top speeds often get published by different people. Ruf may have listed one speed and then P&911 World does a story and their guy drives it on the Audobahn and hits a little higher or a little lower because of road conditions and temps that particular day. Then Excellence gets their hands on one and since they can't test it on an open road, their top speed test occurs closed course at Daytona, and they reach yet another different number. Then add to the mix the digital game of telephone the internet has become and a search would potentially reveal a number of different people claiming different top speeds for the exact same test car and they would all be right...
