IMO, the only reason to go with raised up-rights would be for serious track use. This would allow you to use a more efficient wing (longer span, thicker chord, better placement in the airstream, etc.). Keep in mind a set up like that is not cheap.

FWIW, I believe that wing only came stock on 2 cars: The 964 RS 3.8, and it's big brother the RSR 3.8, both versions being identical. You are probably just witnessing the difference between oem and aftermarket, or even aftermarket-to-aftermarket differences.
