Careful there ol' boy. I believe the cliche says that life is what happens when you're striving to build your future. I don't buy in to the story-book "organized" life-plan scenario. I have a great wife, a great family and a home on the lake. Life is good. Save a few bucks for the future, but live and appreciate every minute RIGHT now. Not the richest guy in the world, but that's ok with me. I spend every minute I can with my kids because they're growing fast and soon these times will be a fond memory. Work could be better but I see it as a "means to an end". Only regret in life is that I didn't pursue a "profession" in my youth. Mid-level management provides a decent paycheck. Not so bad.
In my mind, it's not about planning or setting objectives/goals. It's about striking a satisfying "balance" in your life and living each day. That balance is key. It's everywhere in nature, and it's the key to living well. Balance work, home, finances, relationships, investments, indulgences, etc.
To each his own. I've reached my goal.
