i would have to dissagree - its in the service schedule therefore it should be replaced at regular intervals. i know its not cheap though.
its best not to wait until it stops working don't you think? thats preventative maintenance for you!!
i must admit however that i have not changed mine, car has 86k, and i don't think its ever been replaced.
i'll just keep adding to that list............
