Perhaps one criterion for a good list would be that it can pass the following test:
Place any two of the selected cars in this sentence without it appearing ridiculous.
"I can't quite decide if I want to purchase a _________________ or a ___________________ as my ideal sports car."
For example 300SL Gullwing & Mazda Miata wuld not work well in that sentence..
