Hey Jerry, You need to remove the wood toe-board around the pedals, Then unsnap the ballsocket that hooks to the bellcrank that snaps in the throttle pedal. Take note of how far the ballsocket is screwed onto the cable. I usually hold the ballsocket with pliers and break loose the 8mm jam nut that locks it to the cable. I unscrew the nut too, although you don't always have to. Check out the illustration on the link below, unscrew 6&7 from 5 and remove 5 completely with the engine-it just slides onto a tube at the rear

I can't give any dimensions for your application, only that it's friggin' up there!!
I kind of depends on what your setting the engine on to slide it out from under.
I was refering to removing the bumper on a 993 as from what I remember, it's a lot simpler than a 964 FWIW
I usually work on it at one height, drop the engine on a dolley, then raise the car high enough to slide the engine out and set it right back down on jackstands. I must admit, I've never pulled a 964/993 that wasn't on a lift. They are not nearly as friendly to floor jacks and jack stands as the older cars. Good luck, be careful-turbo motors tend to be a little heavier on the driver's side as you lower them
