About the whistling...the higher the RPM, the more high pitched it gets. I hear it coming from the intake manifold area. I did put injector cleaner in the gas tank about a day ago, if that matters.

Well...I had a lot of whistling and other air noise in my celica all-trac. It sounded like it had a blow off valve, as every time you would shift gears, it would go "whoosh", and there was whistling and rummiging noise whenever the car was on boost. I had to take my intercooler off to replace my plugs and wires, so I cleaned it out really really good with some carb cleaner and some other degreaser stuff, and sprayed the rest of the bottle of carb cleaner and degreaser stuff down the throttle body (with it open) and in the intercooler tubing. I don't know what the engine sucked out of the throttle body/intake runners, but when I ran a hose (you know...water) through my intercooler to try to get all of the gunk out, there was massive amounts of chunky oil boogers with foreign organic matter attached to them...it must have been 6 or 7 ounces of this crap that came out (the car's previous turbocharger was leaking oil really bad from the seals...the rebuilt turbo runs like a champ...that is my guess where the oil came from).
Anyways, once I got the car all put back together, there was no BOV noise (the 3S-GTE motor in the celica doesn't have a BOV or bypass valve...the 3S-GTE in the MR2 turbo does have a bypass valve...strange, huh?), no sucking, whooshing, or turbulence noise. It must have been the oily funk in the intercooler and/or throttle body/intake runners that were making all the stink. So, the moral of this story is...clean out your intake manifold with some carb cleaner, and see if that helps. It helped a ton for me. I know...its a different car, but the same principals apply.
