In Europe eating and drinking in the car is considered to be in poor taste. At autobahn speeds the last thing you want to be doing is sucking on a Big Gulp. Cup holders are an American thing. We eat and drink in our cars because we are too busy to stop and enjoy a leisurely meal in a good restaurant as the Europeans do.

California has a new cellphone law as do many other States that makes it illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving. I find it just as distracting to eat and drink while driving as to talk on the telephone.

Personally I am glad our older 911,s have no cup holders.
