My little 1st grade daughter has been learning about politics and elections of late. The kids did all kinds of projects, and went to the polling place when their teacher voted.

Of course, if you're going to have a lesson on elections, you have to have a genuine presidential candidate come give a little talk. So Mike Gravel came by to chat with the little tykes. His granddaughter is in the same class. How's that for a comprehensive lesson? I know, he's not exactly a front-runner, but it was very cool anyway.
