Harlan, When I called the dealer I was only expecting to get a 4 digit code for the immobilizer.
What he gave me was two different 4-digit codes for the "ignition lock/alarm system" and the " immobilizer". If another 993 owner calls a Porsche dealer maybe they will only get a single four digit code for the immobilizer, maybe they will get two different codes like me? I don't want to hijack the thread so I won't go into any other specifics about my car.
My take away from this is: New 993 owners should look for their immobilzer code, if necessary call the dealer to obtain the code, then take the immobilizer code they get and try the emergency start procedure given in the owners manual.
