Do it right.
I'm in the same dilemma with my '74. For now I'm just fixing all the little neglected items and getting her back to 100% mechanical condition, but it kills me to know that once that's all done, I'm going to have to strip her all down and wait for several months for paint/body to be done.
I'm hoping the wait is worth it though. I'm sure it will be.
