I think you nailed it in your original post buddy.
I'm glad you're getting her a 4x4 though, put some good snow tires on it and she'll be good to go.
I've always had a 4x4 of some kind and the most economical ones were the Ford Explorer or Chev Blazer utility sized, but I've never had an import model?
