Sort of.
I google this a bit and this is what I found (may be wrong of course):
The Mazda3 shares the same platform as the new European Focus.
The US Focus uses the old (Escort?) platform.
They all share the same engine (Ford Duratec, developed by Mazda).
The Mazda3 is made in Japan.
The (US) Ford Focus is made in Mexico.
