Jerry, if I could have gone in to Northwest Airlines management and have them negotiate with me in good faith no union would be necessary. Everyone thinks airline pilots are over paid until something go very wrong and the pilots save their a$$. Two years before retirement I along with every pilot on the property took a 35% pay cut and revised the work rules. The people got the same quality of service from the pilots but now one thank you from management. They wanted labor to take the hit for their inability to mange the airline in the black. Unions are responsible for shutting down the sweat shops that now exist all along the Pacific Rim. Henry Ford was working people until they dropped. Unions drove corporations to become safety conscious. Unions are not perfect but then nothing human is.
