Interesting - my boss is from Flint originally and tells me stories of how the place was in the 1960s and 1970s - it was a model community. Pride of urban planning, all great working-class community for the (then) booming U.S. automakers and the folks that worked for them, etc. It's an absolute schithole now - very interesting how an area can go from boom to bust in such a short time (on a social scale). It's a real-world textbook example of urban blight and decay, and I remember it being discussed (along with places like Pittsburgh, Gary Indiana, south side Chicago, etc.) as places in dire need of new ideas in one of my urban planning courses.
Very interesting. Sad, but interesting.
