I live in Arizona and can tell you the problem here is approaching if not already in, crisis. Our state is probably one of the easiest border crossings for illegals. They aren't all Mexicans either! Where are the so-called national security (homeland security) protections we hear so much about? National Guard troops and fences, high tech cameras and citizen groups have hardly even slowed it down. And what role is Mexico (our good neighbor?) playing in the effort to curb the mass migration out of their wonderful homeland? Nothing! They don't want them either! And now WE need a friggin' passport to visit that $hithole that they don't even want to live in!

When I was in the US Coast Guard boot camp, many years ago, my company had 38 young men from the Philippines out of 60 in the company. They were signed up for six year hitches as Stewards (but other ratings were open to them as well) in return for which they earned US citizenship at the end of an honorable six years of service. While serving, they received all the benefits and same pay as any other and were able to send money home to families and earn legal citizenship! No free ride here.

Today we have all sorts of *********s streaming into our country, over-taxing our social and medical services, not paying taxes and creating very negative (angry) emotions about all Mexicans because the illegals are everywhere and totally out of control.

I don't see Arizona as being so unique when you consider the numbers of illegals now melded into and across America. Some law enforcement leaders are attempting to make life less attractive for illegals with arrests, not only of the illegals but of the employers who knowingly hire them. (And that's just about any who have them on staff). The gatherings of illegals is blatantly obvious on many street corners and vacant lots throughout the state. As a result most citizens are throughly disillusioned with the lack of effective political and/or police action. No one, except those illegals who've managed to go undetected for years, thinks any form of amnesty is even remotely reasonable.

SO... To all you young Mexicans who think you'd like to live in America and enjoy our country's benefits, Join the US Army, prove yourself a loyal, worthy candidate for citizenship (earn it) and as soon as you return, with an honorable service record, from the middle east, you're in. As this national crisis continues to get worse and worse the risk of being shot the the leg in the middle east far out weighs the risk of being shot in the head in downtown Phoenix.
