Oil Line Help Needed
I've been trying to find the oil leak that is causing oil to drip onto the front portion of my passenger (right, starboard) exhaust pipe. The top of the engine is dry, so I assumed it is the oil cooler or oil cooler seals.
In trying to get in to the oil cooler today, I saw I had to remove a bracket holding a line coming down just in front of the oil cooler, next to the engine. As I removed the bracket, the end of the line came out of the fitting it was in, and I saw that on the end of the line was something like a rubber nipple. When I squeezed the nipple, oil started to drip out, quite similar to my oil leak, and in the exact correct spot over my exhaust pipe. It seems, the fitting that this nipple fits into, is a redirect line to behind the shock absorber. It appears that this is intended to redirect oil dripping from this line to drip away from the exhaust to behind the shock.
I have not seen anything like this on the Pelican Parts diagrams or parts listings, but then again I'm still a newbie and learning as I go.
Where does this line originate? Is it some sort of "overflow" line? I'm certain that responses will either clear up all the subsequent questions I have, or prompt other questions.
