in actuality it is fairly simple. place collector where winter/summer sun most avail. then figure out plumb lines. buy collector(family-4)=80 gallons water + 80 gallon water heater. passive or active. passive means you dont touch it at all during freeze(like mine). or active you utilize grundfoss electric pump to circulate with a thermostat in event of freeze.
solar company hands over all fed/state documentation for submittal to fed/state for tax break/rebate. simple except yer plumbing and that depends on length of run/pitch of roof, distance from collector to water heater.
more collectors you have the longer hot shower/bath you can take!
more collectors you have and the more batteries, the more power you can store and then backcharge local electric company ie. sell them electricity! and get paid by them!
