They definitely don't know how to deal with it, you can tell by the confused look on their faces.
It's not like the respond, oh, have a nice day. You can clearly see them reaching for something.
I've also used the same tactic on regular solicitors, pulled it on a woman from Cable Vision once. I swear she stood on my stoop looking at my closed door for like 10 minutes trying to figure out what being Jewish had to do with TV service.
I do believe the JW's keep notes. Only had to do it once back in Huntington. After that I'd see them hit the neighbor on one side, pass by my house and wave at me if I was outside, then they'd hit the neighbor on the other side.
I give them much respect for respecting me in that way.
