That is a "logical" approach, but when the gate drops, I turn into a fricking maniac whether no matter what my game plan is prior to the race 
When I took my girls to that race a few years ago, my wife (who I met many years after I quit racing) got kind of freaked out when she got to see me revert to my old "race mode". No doubt I will be in the doghouse on occasion if I choose to get serious about it again
