People asked me the same thing when I did my roof in the fall. People told me to do a "pound over". Sounded dirty, and turn out it is.

I don't like the idea of laying new shingles over old. What if there are boards that need to be replaces, or leaks around flashing that could only be noticed by water stains when the shingles are off?

I dunno. I'm a novice, but it just doesn't sit right with me. Maybe some pros will chime in and say it's A-OK.
