It represented the death of an era for me, too. In fact, I really haven't followed F1 since. I'm very much out of touch with the sport, beyond the snippets I glean from this site.
This is not easy for me to admit, but at the time, I was not a fan of Senna. Oh sure, I knew he was the best. Watching him in the rain was nothing short of magical. How often does one find themselves jumping up and down and yelling at the TV or biting the corner of a sofa pillow, these days? However, I was always pulling for Prost, Mansel, Berger, et al. No idea why? Who knows why a kid/teen, picks the things that he does. Perhaps Senna was too young and cocky for my father, and that's what influenced me? Whatever the case, it has been an interesting journey for me to discover him posthumously. I was wrong about him on so many levels. Really, to perform at his degree, how else is one supposed to be? You must posses the cunning instincts of a warrior! Sadly, it was just his time...
