You don't even need a CCW to carry a pistol in Michigan. As long as you don't conceal it. Put it in a holster in plain view and you're fine. You only need a permit if you want to carry the pistol in a concealed manner.
.... of course, the caveat here is that transporting the gun inside a vehicle is 'concealing' the weapon. So you'd pretty much have to walk everywhere.
That, and you'd be certain to attract all sorts of unwanted attention.
