Never heard of checking the engine, trans, etc.

The only post-import inspection I had/needed for my car was for federalization (bumpers, ride heights, etc.).

It MIGHT be that the engine/trans inspection was for the dealer to ensure that it was still under warranty or something like that.

But really, I don't know.
