Another point to conside ris that not many of us are the original owners of our cars, so yo really don;t know what mods were made to the electrical systems or any other parts of the car for that matter by previous owners.
Moral of the story is find out what is supposed to be the function of the parts for your system, determine what is missing or there in your car, and then decide on how to cost effectively fix it.
The factory owners manual is a must read for do it yourselfers or have a good mechanic you trust tell you how to correct evreything.
