Actually my recollection from history class is that there was popular support for WW2 unprecedented (and never seen again) in the history of the U.S.

How exactly is invading a sovereign country under false pretenses and killing lots of civilians (dismissed as "collateral damage"), setting up a puppet government and creating a breeding ground for an entire new generation of America-hating future terrorists "doing the right thing" exactly?
