Seriously, how do they manage to do this?

So twice in two days, there have been odd car accidents within view of my apartment. Now accidents around here aren't uncommon, its a busy, built up area, but its the trying to understand how they happen that has me going...

1) Last night, walking home, I past an accident at a neighbouring apartment. Somehow a Nissan Altima managed to pull off the road into the building driveway - where within 10' of the road you need to stop at a security gate - and slam into a chrysler 300M so hard as to put the Chrysler onto the roof of the Nissan.

How? How could the Nissan make the 90 degree bend off the road, and within 10' slam into the Chrysler so hard the Chrysler travelled over the hood and onto the roof of the Nissan?

2) Perhaps less odd, but this morning, a guy managed to roll his Chevy SUV perpendicular in the middle of the street in front of my apartment. Now I realize that SUV's are susceptible to rolling, and likely someone him off, causing him to swerve and therefore roll, but its a short stretch of road where cars generally travel at about 40 km/hr max. Can you really roll an SUV that easily?

In both accidents ambulances were required, so I hope those involved are ok, but how the heck do people manage these things?
