I had a similar starting problem in late January. Dang thing gave me a simple crank over but didn't seem to have the juice to go boom.
I put jumpers on and started up from there.
Before connecting the jumpers I didn't smell the petrol but after the cables were on and cranked it a few times. ahhhh, the sweet smell of flooding
