Decided to get away from the base and the constant work issues...jumped in the 4Runner and headed to the mountains.
Hours in the vehicle and I finally find a nice trail through some beautiful Montana wilderness. Hit several trails and most of them still covered with snow much of the way. On the way back I see a cabin (abandoned) and what could be a cool photo op...sure enough I get stuck attempting to get through a snow drift.
Thinking the vehicle can get out I lock the differential and still she won't come free. No wench, no hi-boy jack, no rope, no shovel, no gloves, no cell signal, and not a sole to be seen within 30 miles. So I start pulling snow from under the vehicle, hop in and try to rock her free....all she does is drop until her belly is resting on the snow once again. Another two hours of this and finally she reverses out and I am free.
The bad is my hands were so numb and frozen that I didn't realize the snow/ice was removing my skin from my hands in big ass chunks! Warmed them up in cold water to start, then just held them against my chest and then used the heater vents. Even now they have a numb sensation and the worst wounds have no feeling at all...guess I messed em up pretty bad.
Now here is the kicker....I never took the fuggin picture!
