That isn't always the case. Before I was DIYer I used to take my car to an independant shop or the dealer (I was young). "These are your brakes we're talking about" they'd say. Okay, fine. Most of the time - not all - my brakes would come back squeaky or develop squeals not long after. "They all do that" they would say. Ever since I started doing my own brakes I have never once had squeaks or squeals. I often use a high-quality aftermarket pad.
