It's a spin-off from both Judaism and Christianity... so it can't be older then Christianity...nor could it be almost as old as Judaism

True. I suppose I'm thinking of the arab world rather than "islam" itself. They have always warred with the Jewish state/religion, and have since adopted a religion which continues that tradition, to wit - Islam.
