Hell no! ..... I was too cheap back then and was a poor college student
I did however play with the settings and used different weight oils depending on what I was shooting for.
A couple racing friends used to call me Herbie (Hancock) as a joke and over the years I had a few horrendous crashes due to the bike kicking back and forth (mainly in my earlier racing days). My friends gave any kind of motion like this in the whoops or over rough braking bumps the name "the Herbie shuffle".
It usually resulted in clicking/adjusting in some more rebound damping
