While the law exists, it's total BS. Most new SUV's come with such dark windows stock off the showroom floor that you can't see the car ahead of the SUV. I hate it.
The Carrera I bought came with tinted windows on a black painted car. I wouldn't have done this myself, but I live with it. It's really a bit bling, if you ask me, but you didn't.
