Cal 44 it is a coupe. I'll try to get some pics in the next few days.
I have always felt the $17k was Very premium. I am not hung up on this particular car and it is often tougher to deal with people you know. The PPI is an absolute must. I am really trying to find all the various attributes that I want so not only do you not fall in to a mechanical money pit, but an assesory money pit as well. ie I really need to add the whale tail, exhaust etc etc etc. I certainly see the addiction to upgrades, it is well documented here. Since I have some patients and plenty of cars to look at over time, I would like to gat the things that I really want to have up front. The good physical and mechanical attributes of my friends coop are nice. It is not my perfect fit, so it makes me want to keep looking, especially at a premium. It has sat in the garage a long time and it can sit longer while I do an in depth study of the market. I have seen a lot of nice 84 to 87 coupe's that appear to fall in to my price range as well. I have a real thing for the wide bodies and earlier all steel conversions are certainly fair game. Half the fun is in the pursuit and I appreciate everyones input. I still have a lot of learning to do.
