I'd love to be able to say that I'd keep it, but to be honest I'm sure I'd turn it in. Something like that would eat me up. To be honest I've been in a vaguely similar situation;
When I was a kid, maybe 9 or 10, I was on a boat trip on the Thames in London, England and I saw the guy in the seat in front of me drop a fifty pound note (think $100 bill) from his pocket. Bear in mind my age and that this would have been about 1978/79 and that would have been a huge amount of money to me back then. Without hesitation I picked it up and handed it back to the guy telling him he had dropped it. He gave me five pounds ($10) in return.
I remember telling my Grandmother about it and her telling me "Honesty pays" and all I could think was that I could have been significantly better off if I'd kept the guys money so how can honesty pay. In the end though she was right and I wouldn't do anything different now. I guess that amount back then would be a bit like the $140k now. Well maybe not quite, but the outcome would still be the same.
