Dropping is good...sort of.

It's better than my situation was a year or so ago. In my case that little lever was hopelessly siezed to the shaft that ran up into the bell housing ( you called it an axle). I went through considerable pain and anguish liberating hat lever from the sfat. Now I take it off once a year or so and lube it up.

There sould be a snap ring running in a ridge at the bottom end of the shaft. This snap ring holds the lever in place.

So... get your self two grease seals (cheap, but you need to get them from Porsche) and one snap ring. Pull the lever off, clean and lube, reassemble. and snap that ring into place.


You'll be good to go.
