Depends on how you look at it. I ditched the OEM Michelins after about 20k because the were the worst tires ever. I swapped on a set of Avon M500 summer tires (I have dedicated winter tires on steel wheels), which will probably go another 10k. I have about 45k on the car now. So, no they are not easy on tires, but no worse than anything else I've had (Prelude, two Miatas, Civic Si, 911) with performance tires.
