I know a guy breaking into "the industry" (show-biz for the non-So-Cal folk).
So, he was looking for a car commensurate with his station in life. His choices boiled down to either an Escalade or a 996. He picked the 996, a Tiptronic, no less. Now he's shopping for a set of "dubs", chrome, natch.
Accessory? You decide.
Counter-point - There were plenty of water-cooled Porsches (Boxters, Caymans {Caym
en?}, 996/997s, including some Gt2/3 cars and one Carrera GT) at the most recent PCA Orange Coast Region auto-cross, many of them quite well driven. All is not lost.
