Any p-car is an accessory. Even if it is your passion you don't need it. You choose to engage it and it speaks to you. But to criticize others because they don't "get it" smacks of bitterness imho.
And btw in POC the most competitive classes now are Boxster Spec and Cup cars. But then again, those guys are just poseurs...

Perhaps we're wrong to criticize those who care nothing for the glorious history of Porsche. But who isn't a little incensed when a licensed driver brings a car in for service and refers to it as the red one, but doesn't know the make, model, or year? IMO This is the same thing just a few steps beyond.
You say elitist like it's a bad thing. I've never considered Porsche for the masses, nor have I ever seen a Porsche ad targeting the dead common.
Yes, I'd say we're a bit elitist. Not in terms of posh spending habits, but we are elitist in a "cognoscente" way for our appreciation of fine autos.
Who isn't a little enamored by Grady Clay's knowledge of all things Porsche?
Who here would say, "A 356, what's that?" Even my 7 year-old knows what a 356, 550, and 914 is and he's never seen any of them in his life.
