I remember when I was a kid fishing the Outer Banks of NC, you could drive for miles in either direction and likely not see anyone at all. Even when I was a teenager, it was legal during the off season at Myrtle...I remember having "jeep races" during HS beach trips. When I lived in Fl. we'd drive on the beaches in St. Augustine and Daytona, but don't think it's legal in St. A anymore. Daytona wasn't really "driving on the beach", it was more like "finding a parking spot at the mall during Christmas" on the beach
