It's good they did that, but it seems somewhat contradictory.

It is *un*insured motorist coverage, i.e., coverage that kicks in when an *un*insured motorist hits you.

Yet, your insurance company paid, and then went after the other driver's *insurance* company. So, obviously, the other driver WAS insured, not uninsured.

Hopefully Kapt's insurance company will do the same thing. That is of course the easiest solution. (Kapt, scan and post the section of your policy regarding the uninsured motorist provision, that would be interesting.)
